๐ Overview
LinkedIn Prospect Pro ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that helps users extract publicly visible LinkedIn profile data and export it to Google Sheets for sales prospecting and outreach purposes.
This Privacy Policy explains what data the Extension accesses, how it is used, and what we do not do with your information. We are committed to being fully transparent.
๐ Data Accessed by the Extension
The Extension reads the following publicly visible information from LinkedIn profile pages that the user explicitly queues for extraction:
- Full name (first name, last name)
- Professional headline
- About / summary section
- Geographic location (city, region, country)
- Profile photo URL (publicly accessible image link)
- Last activity signals (e.g. "Active 2 days ago" badges and post timestamps)
- LinkedIn profile URL
All data read by the Extension is already publicly visible on LinkedIn to any logged-in user. The Extension does not access private messages, connection lists, email addresses, phone numbers, or any non-public data.
โ๏ธ How Data is Used
โ We Do
- Display extracted profile data in the Extension popup
- Write data to your own Google Sheet via the Sheets API
- Store data locally in Chrome's storage on your device
- Use data to calculate qualification and activity scores shown only to you
- Cache insights locally for faster popup load
โ We Do Not
- Send any data to our servers or third-party servers
- Sell, share, or transfer your data to anyone
- Use data for advertising or profiling
- Access LinkedIn data beyond what you explicitly queue
- Store data outside of your own device and your own Google Sheet
๐ Permissions & Why They Are Needed
- tabs โ Needed to detect which LinkedIn tab is active and to open profile pages for extraction in a controlled, rate-limited sequence.
- scripting โ Required to inject content scripts into LinkedIn profile pages to read publicly visible profile data from the page DOM.
- storage โ Used to persist your settings (daily limit, Google Sheet URL), the extraction queue, and extracted prospect data locally on your device between browser sessions.
- identity โ Used exclusively for Google OAuth authentication so the Extension can write data to your own Google Sheet. No Google account data is accessed beyond the Sheets API scope.
- alarms โ Schedules periodic tasks such as hourly Google Sheets sync and enforcing randomised delays between profile visits to respect LinkedIn rate limits.
- Host: linkedin.com โ Needed to read publicly visible profile data from LinkedIn profile pages that you queue.
- Host: sheets.googleapis.com / googleapis.com โ Needed to read LinkedIn URLs from and write extracted prospect data to your Google Sheet.
๐ Google Sheets Integration & OAuth
When you connect your Google Account, the Extension requests the Google Sheets API scope (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/spreadsheets) only. This scope allows the Extension to read LinkedIn URLs from โ and write extracted profile data to โ the specific Google Sheet URL you provide.
The Extension does not access Gmail, Google Drive, Google Docs, or any other Google service. Authentication tokens are managed by Chrome's built-in identity API and are never transmitted to our servers.
You can disconnect the Google integration at any time from within the Extension popup.
๐พ Local Data Storage
All prospect data, queue state, settings, and insights are stored locally on your device using Chrome's chrome.storage.local API. This data never leaves your device except when explicitly written to your own Google Sheet.
You can clear all stored data at any time by clicking "Clear All" in the Extension popup, or by removing the Extension from Chrome entirely.
๐ก๏ธ No Remote Code Execution
The Extension does not load or execute any remote JavaScript, WebAssembly, or external scripts. All code is fully bundled within the Extension package. There is no use of eval() or dynamic code execution from external sources.
The only external network requests made by the Extension are:
- Requests to linkedin.com to load LinkedIn profile pages in the browser (standard page navigation)
- Requests to sheets.googleapis.com to read/write your Google Sheet using your authenticated OAuth token
- Requests to accounts.google.com only when you explicitly disconnect Google (to revoke the OAuth token)
๐๏ธ Data Retention
Prospect data is stored locally in Chrome storage until you either clear it manually via the Extension or uninstall the Extension. Row map entries older than 90 days are automatically pruned from local storage to keep data fresh.
Data written to your Google Sheet remains there under your full control. The Extension does not retain any copy of data written to your Sheet.
๐ถ Children's Privacy
This Extension is intended for professional use by adults. It is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
๐ Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the bottom of this page. Continued use of the Extension after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
